Participants in the RPG NFT game Axie Infinity transferred about $3.5 billion in NFTs in 2021, according to the latest study published by NonFungible. This category will represent more than two-thirds of all NFTs exchanged in the blockchain video gaming sector.
With $827 million, NBA Top Shot finished in second, while Loot, a game console, came in third with $242 million.
Sky Mavis, a Vietnamese video game developer, created the game in 2018. It features Axies, which players acquire and use to fulfill daily objectives, combat other players, and so on.
Each Axie is a non-fungible token (NFT) created on the Ethereum (ETH) network. Smooth Love Potions (SLPs) are earned by doing activities with Axies. Later on, Axies may be sold for cash on cryptocurrency exchanges, giving users a constant source of income.
In 2021, Axie Infinity was responsible for 19% of the estimated $17 billion in all NFT trades.
Playing Axie Infinity is better than minimum wage job
By the end of the year, Axie Infinity gained a lot of traction. It was very popular among players who lived in third-world countries. Playing Axie Infinity may make you more money than working at a low-paying job.
Players, on the other hand, have complained to the developers that their incomes have decreased. It all happened when the expense of SLP has dropped by 67.5% in 2021.
Increased token inflation as more individuals join and play the game might account for some of the price drops. There are approximately 2.7 million monthly Axie players as of this writing. Back in March 2021, there were slightly over 1 million players.
Since July 2021, however, the total quantity of SLP has increased from 541.7 million to 5.13 billion.
Supporters of blockchain gaming bought and sold $5.18 billion worth of NFTs in 20,986,532 transactions. There were also 112 blockchain games and 1.88 million active wallets to choose from. These estimates contributed to 2.18% of the worldwide gaming industry in 2021.
Apex Infinity guilds searching for new NFT games
Players in an NFT game like Axie Infinity must possess or have access to three Pokémon-like animals known as Axies. Each of them is a unique NFT that may be battled, traded, and bred.
The average cost per three-person team has been approximately $1,000. For the ordinary gamer, who is mostly from the Philippines and Venezuela, this is just too pricey.
Guilds formed up to fill the void, and one of its numerous services is the loaning of Axies as fellowships. Guilds are entities that support new players’ entry into the game. Afterward, they work to retain them through training and administration.
Despite the growth of NFT games, Axie’s most recent evolution (guilds) may have already slipped away. This month, the game is likely to see its first dip in monthly players since it premiered in 2020. Axies are available for only $26 at the moment.
Other games in development include Star Atlas and Aurory, both of which are highly anticipated. The guilds that attract new players in Axie Infinity already venturing out into what they believe may be the next beneficial tool.
