A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with rape and will appear in court today.
PC Ireland Murdock, who is attached to the Central North Command Unit, was arrested on Tuesday 11 January 2022.
The offence is alleged to have happened when the officer was off duty in Lambeth on Saturday 25 September 2021.
He has been suspended from duty and the alleged victim is being supported by specialist officers.
He will be appearing at Croydon Magistrates’ Court later today.
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed, as has the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
