Woody Allen has said he has “no intention” of retiring or writing a novel despite media reports suggesting his latest movie would be his last.
Allen, 86, is currently filming his 50th piece of work, Wasp22 in Paris.
Reports claiming that Allen’s Parisian film would be his last came about after quotes published in an interview by a Spanish newspaper.
However, the film director’s spokesperson has now stated: “Woody Allen never said he was retiring, nor did he say he was writing another novel.
“He said he was thinking about not making films, as making films that go straight or very quickly to streaming platforms is not so enjoyable for him, as he is a great lover of the cinema experience.”
They added that the filmmaker “has no intention of retiring” at present and is focussed on the excitement of his current work which is a milestone in his 50-year film career.
The writer, actor, comedian and director is best known for films such as Midnight In Paris (2011) and is also a four-time Academy-Award winner.

Allen has previously been involved in controversial reports surrounding the nature of his relationship with Soon-Yi Previn, who is now his wife.
Previn is the adopted daughter of musician Andrei Previn and actress Mia Farrow, who had a 12-year relationship with Allen.
The #MeToo movement brought focus on the pair who are believed to have wed when Soon-Yi Previn was 26 and Allen was 61.
It also focussed on reports of allegations that Allen had sexually assaulted his adopted step-daughter Dylan Farrow, who penned a personal essay for The New York Times in 2014.
Allen has denied the claims involving Ms Farrow, first made in 1993, and has never been arrested or prosecuted.
