A 67-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man have died after being hit by a van in Caerphilly, Wales.
The crash took place on 17 March at around 7.50pm on Nantgarw Road.
The woman died after the incident, while the man died later in hospital.
Michael Saltmarsh, 48, from the surrounding area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of alcohol.
He has been charged and will appear at Newport Magistrates Court on Monday.
Families of the victims are receiving support from specialist officers.
Police investigating the crash are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time, including drivers with potential dashcam footage, to get in touch.
