Rishi Sunak’s list of ministerial interests has been published following pressure from opposition parties.
The newly published list contained a reference to the shares his wife holds in a childcare agency that originally prompted the calls for transparency.
A footnote in the document reads: “As the prime minister set out in his letter to the chair of the Liaison Committee on 4 April 2023, this includes the minority shareholding that his wife has in relation to the company, Koru Kids.
“The Guide to the Categories of Interest… sets out the Independent Adviser’s approach to the inclusion of interests declared in relation to spouses, partners and close family members within the list.”
It comes after the launch of a standards investigation into the prime minister which related to a possible failure to declare an interest when first asked.
A Downing Street source said the investigation relates to the shares Mr Sunak’s wife Akshata Murty holds in a childcare agency – Koru Kids – that could benefit from a policy announced in the budget.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer had urged Mr Sunak to “come clean” and publish these details on Tuesday.
The document release marks the first time in 18 months the list has been published.
