Robert De Niro has become a father to his seventh child – at the age of 79.
The actor revealed he had just welcomed a new baby in an interview with ET Canada.
His representative confirmed the birth to Sky News.
There are 51 years between his eldest child, Drena De Niro, and his youngest.
Also in the De Niro clan are Raphael, 46 – he and Drena are the children of De Niro and his first wife, Diahnne Abbott – two children from his second marriage, Elliot, 25, and Helen, 11, and 27-year old twins Aaron and Julian.
De Niro also has four grandchildren.
He revealed the new arrival when Brittnee Blair, who was interviewing him, started asking a question, saying: “I know you have six kids”.
The actor corrected her, replying: “Seven, actually.”
“I just had a baby,” he added.
He told ET Canada he believes “in being loving with [his] kids”, despite sometimes having “to be stern about stuff”.

“I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice,” he said.
“And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t.”
