A father has died, and his two children injured after a grenade detonated in their home in Indiana, authorities have said.
Police in Lake County, Indiana, responded to reports of an explosion at a home on W Lakeshore Drive at around 6.30pm on Saturday.
The family was looking through a grandfather’s belongings when they found a hand grenade.
The device exploded when someone reportedly pulled the pin, the sheriff’s department said.
The father was found unresponsive on the scene and later pronounced dead.

His two children, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman, were taken to hospital with shrapnel wounds, according to NBC.
The Porter County Bomb Squad responded to the call to determine if there were any other explosive devices, the sheriff’s department said.
