A US national is believed to be in custody in North Korea after he crossed from South Korea without authorisation during a tour.
The UN Command said it happened as the man was visiting the Joint Security Area, the demilitarised zone separating the two Koreas.
He then crossed into the North without authorisation.
“A U.S National on a JSA orientation tour crossed, without authorization, the Military Demarcation Line into the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK),” the UN Command tweeted.
“We believe he is currently in DPRK custody and are working with our KPA counterparts to resolve this incident,” it added.
The person’s identity has not been revealed and it’s unclear why he crossed.
