A plane has crashed as it performed a stunt at a gender reveal party in Mexico, killing the pilot.
Video of the incident in San Pedro, Navolato, shows the left wing appear to collapse on the small aircraft a moment after it releases pink powder to indicate the expectant couple’s unborn baby is a girl.
Seemingly unaware of the plane beginning to disintegrate just metres above them, the pair embrace in front of dozens of balloons and giant letters spelling “OH BABY”.
Meanwhile, shrieks of joy from the couple’s assembled friends and family can be heard turning into screams of distress.
Officials told CNN that the unnamed pilot died in hospital after being treated by paramedics at the scene following the crash.
First developing during the 2000s, gender reveal parties are held during pregnancy to reveal the baby’s sex to the expectant parents’ family and friends, and in some cases to the parents themselves.
The practice has previously been criticised after stunts that led to disaster.
