Meet and greet: House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is set to meet Wednesday with the centrist Problem Solvers Caucus as the group weighs last-ditch options to avert a shutdown, according to three people familiar with the situation.
The centrist bipartisan bloc has been working on a fallback plan to advance a stopgap funding measure in the event the GOP’s funding bills come up short. They’re not the only bipartisan talks going on, either. There are more under-the-radar discussions between the Republican Governance Group and the New Democrat Coalition, according to two people familiar with the situation.
Jeffries also met with the Progressive Caucus’ board last night, according to one of the people familiar with the situation, as he makes the rounds with the different blocs of the Democratic Caucus.
