The death of footballer Maddy Cusack is not being treated as suspicious, police say.
The Sheffield United player was found dead at a property in Horsley, Derbyshire, on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old’s cause of death has not been announced, with a file being prepared for the coroner.
A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called to a property in Lady Lea Road, Horsley, just after 6.35pm on Wednesday 20 September.
“A woman, in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Her family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.
“Her death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
Fans at Sheffield United’s game against Newcastle United on Sunday paid tribute to the player, with the match build-up featuring a eulogy from Cusack’s mother, as well as wreath-laying in the centre of the pitch.
There was also an applause during the 8th minute of the game, representing her shirt number.
The England and Scotland women’s teams held their own tribute on Friday during their game in Sunderland, with players from both sides wearing black armbands.
Cusack, who was named Sheffield United’s vice-captain last month, had just started her sixth season with the Blades in the Women’s Championship and was the longest-serving member of the current squad.
She joined the team back in January 2019 and last season became the first woman to reach 100 appearances for the club.
Cusack also worked in the club’s marketing department.

“Maddy had a unique position of being part of a number of teams at Sheffield United and was popular with everyone that she came into contact with.
“Her personality and professionalism made her a credit to her family – she will be sadly missed.
“While taking in the news and moving forward, the club will offer as much support as possible to Maddy’s family, friends and colleagues.”
