On October 5, 2023, the digital currency XRP held its position as the fifth largest by market capitalization. Recently, its value surged when a judge dismissed the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s interlocutory appeal. In the last 30 days, XRP has appreciated 5.2% against the U.S. dollar. A month ago, Bitcoin.com News rolled out an insightful analysis of the leading ten wallets for bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH), and tether (USDT). Every project boasts its distinct distribution tier, with USDT being available across multiple blockchains.
Data sourced from xrpscan.com reveals a cap of 100 billion XRP, distributed across 4,801,934 active accounts. Of this total, 99,988,373,201 is accessible, with 41,106,205,320 secured in escrow. The XRP ledger facilitates various escrow types, notably the time-based escrow, which ensures funds are unlocked only after a designated period of time elapses. Essentially, this chunk of XRP remains in an account, awaiting release upon meeting specific preset conditions.
Among the top ten wallets, these accounts oversee 11.04% of the XRP supply, with the top two being Ripple’s dominion. The premier wallet, labeled as “rMQ98” and identified as Ripple (29), boasts a hefty 1.96 billion XRP, translating to 1.96% of the total XRP supply. Ripple (39), known by its account number “rKveE,” holds an impressive 1.54 billion XRP, accounting for 1.541% of the digital asset’s total. Binance, the globe’s leading crypto exchange by trading volume, possesses the third-ranking XRP wallet “rEy8T,” containing a substantial 1.47 billion XRP valued at $787 million.
The fourth-ranking address, “rBEc9,” is under Uphold’s management, holding 1.37 billion XRP. Binance claims the fifth spot with its “rs8ZP” wallet, housing 914 million XRP. Upbit’s “rDxJN” wallet, holding 910 million XRP, stands as the sixth dominant account. Uphold returns to the list with its seventh-largest “rsX8c” wallet, containing a bit over 821 million XRP. Kraken’s “rUeDD” wallet, securing 740 million XRP, clinches the eighth position. The ninth place is occupied by Bitbank’s “rw7m3” wallet, boasting 658 million XRP.
The intrigue deepens with the tenth-largest XRP wallet. Its ownership remains shrouded in mystery. Yet, the “rEvwS” address is home to 653,476,430 XRP, valued at $348.27 million based on prevailing XRP exchange rates. The top 20 XRP wallets hold 16.26% of the supply and the top 50 hold 26.69% of the XRP in circulation. The top 100 holders command 33.15% and 277,000,000 XRP is allocated for the XRP leveraged on the BNB network.
It has been said that Ripple Labs executives and co-founders Chris Larsen and Brad Garlinghouse hold a decent amount of XRP. Exact amounts are unknown but co-founder Jed McCaleb sold the remainder of his XRP fortune in 2022. McCaleb transferred a total 9 billion XRP over the years from his wallet dubbed the “Taco Stand.”
