Police are investigating an incident in which a man reportedly had part of his ear bitten off in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The man reportedly intervened in an altercation involving another man and a woman in Grainger Street, in Newcastle city centre, on 17 September at 1.30am.
He was assaulted and part of his ear was bitten off by the other man, who also broke his glasses and left him with facial injuries, it was reported.
The victim went to hospital for treatment and was later discharged.
Officers from Northumbria Police launched an investigation into the incident and released an image of a man they would like to speak to.

He was in the area at the time the assault is reported to have taken place and officers believe he may be able to help with their enquiries which are ongoing.
