A nightclub has said it is “heartbroken” after the “sudden and explained death” of a 21-year-old woman at the weekend.
South Wales Police said the woman was taken ill at a music event in the Butetown area of Cardiff in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Vaults Cardiff said in a statement that everyone at the venue was “absolutely heartbroken”.
“Concerns were raised for an individual who was immediately taken to the onsite medic for medical assistance,” according to the statement.
Ambulance staff arrived “within minutes” but the venue said the woman died “despite every effort from the medical staff”.
“We would like to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the individual and offer our continued support during this tragic time,” the statement added.
The venue, which is located in the basement of Portland House, also thanked the emergency services for their “incredible efforts”.
