Rishi Sunak says the UK does not “agree” with Israel’s ambassador, who told Sky News the country rejects the idea of a two-state solution.
Pressed by Mark Austin in an interview this week about the Palestinians having their own state, Tzipi Hotovely said “absolutely no”.
Asked about her comments this morning, Mr Sunak said: “We don’t agree with that.
“Our long-standing position remains that a two-state solution is the right outcome. And more immediately, what’s going on is incredibly concerning.”
He added that “consistently far too many innocent people have lost their lives”, and that he told Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “Israel must take every available precaution to protect innocent civilian lives”.
