Police were called to a report of “possibly two illegal immigrants” found hiding in the luggage hold on a coach that had just returned to the UK from a school trip to France.
Hampshire Police told Sky News its officers attended Hounsdown School in Totton on Saturday.
According to reports, the coach had just brought pupils home from a trip to Boulogne University, located around 20 miles south of Calais, when the discovery was made as luggage was being unloaded.
The coach is understood to have travelled back into the UK via the Eurotunnel at Calais.
Children from years nine and 10 had been on the trip, according to the Daily Echo.
A parent said two men were found with the luggage – one had apparently tried to run off, the Echo reported.
One parent said the incident was “horrendous”, according to the newspaper.
The Home Office has been contacted by Sky News for a comment.
