A 70-year-old man has appeared in court charged with assault to severe injury and assaulting police after a woman was found dead at a house in South Ayrshire.
Police Scotland said officers were called to a report of a disturbance at a property in Whitletts Road, Ayr, at around 4.45pm on Saturday.
The body of a woman was found inside, with the force currently treating the death as “unexplained”.
A pensioner was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday.
Kenneth Davies, 70, has been accused of assault to severe injury and assaulting police.
Davies, of Ayr, made no plea to the two charges and was remanded in custody. He is due back in the dock within the next eight days.
