A murder investigation has been launched over the death of a woman who was found unresponsive in a car in east London.
Officers were called to Whiston Road in Hackney shortly before 6.45am on Saturday following a concern for a woman’s welfare.
They found the woman unresponsive inside a vehicle that was parked in an alleyway.
Officers forced their way inside and then carried out CPR until paramedics arrived. However, the woman, who was in her mid 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of murder, with police believing he and the victim knew one another.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said they believe they know the identity of the woman and have informed her next of kin, but formal identification is yet to take place.
A post-mortem examination is set to be carried out.
A crime scene remained in place into the afternoon.
