A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found following reports of a burglary in Derbyshire.
The murder suspect has also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a second man was taken to hospital with serious injuries from a property on Eccles Road in Whaley Bridge on Wednesday.
The man who was taken to hospital was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
A fourth man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary on Wednesday afternoon after the vehicle he was travelling in was stopped on the A6 near Chapel-en-le-Frith.
Police have said they believe the death was connected to a “targeted incident”.
Scene guards have been put in place at two houses on the road.
Derbyshire Police said in a statement: “We were called to reports of a burglary at a property in Eccles Road, Whaley Bridge, at 1.20am on 1 May. At the scene officers found a man who had sustained fatal injuries.
“A second man was found with serious injuries nearby in the same road. He has been taken to hospital. He has also been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
“A third man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and remains in police custody.”
