A convicted prisoner has absconded from Scotland’s only open prison.
Members of the public are being warned “not to approach” Martin Jackson, 33, if they spot him in the street.
Jackson is on the run from HMP Castle Huntly, which is west of Dundee, and was reported missing to police at around 6.30pm on Wednesday.
Open prisons are made up of low supervision inmates and emphasis is on preparation for release.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “It is believed Martin has connections in both Ayr and Cumbria, and the public are being asked not to approach him.”
