Tens of thousands of people have been told to flee their homes as wildfires rip through an upmarket suburb of Los Angeles.
Pacific Palisades, home to movie stars and billionaires, is one of three areas under evacuation orders as blazes destroy buildings and gut cars across parts of southern California.
The other two places affected are Altadana, directly north of Pasadena, and the Los Angeles suburb of Sylmar.
January is not normally wildfire season in California – but drought conditions and the strongest winds in the south of the state for more than a decade have combined to bring about the blazes.
