Prince William has no plans to go to the World Cup in Qatar “due to a busy winter schedule” but he might go if England do well, Sky News royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills understands.
His Royal Highness, who is president of the FA, is due to travel to the United States for the presentation of his Earthshot Prize, which aims to find solutions to save the planet, at the end of November.
The ceremony will take place in Boston in early December, right in the middle of the tournament.
The World Cup begins on 20 November and runs until 18 December, with England’s first game, against Iran, on 21 November.
England will play Wales on 25 November and the USA on 29 November.
The prince did not make the trip to either of the last two tournaments: Brazil in 2014 or Russia in 2018.
However, Kensington Palace said it is possible his diary could be revised should England reach the later stages of the competition.

Qatar hosting the tournament has caused concern about its human rights record and attitude to LGBT people.
Earlier this week the gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell was arrested after staging a protest near the National Museum of Qatar in Doha.
The foreign secretary James Cleverly was also criticised after he told LGBT fans planning to attend the World Cup to be “respectful” of the host nation.
