A new photograph has been released to mark the birthday of the King, who turns 74 today.
The image shows the King leaning against an ancient oak tree in Windsor.
Buckingham Palace has announced the King is taking on the role of The Ranger of Windsor Great Park, a post previously held by his father, Prince Philip
The King will be spending his birthday privately, with no official engagements planned.
Military celebrations are marking the day, with the Band of the Household Cavalry playing Happy Birthday outside Buckingham Palace during the changing of the guard ceremony.
Gun salutes are also being fired across London, with the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery firing 41 rounds from Green Park.
An hour later, the Honourable Artillery Company will fire a 62-gun salute from the Tower of London.

This is the King’s first birthday since becoming monarch after the death of the Queen.

Not yet clear if King will celebrate separate birthday
Yesterday, he led the first Remembrance Sunday service of his reign, laying a wreath at the Cenotaph.
His wreath was a new design, but paid tribute to the Queen by featuring a ribbon bearing the royal racing colours.
On a card was written: “In memory of the glorious dead. Charles R.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales tweeted a birthday message, “Wishing a very happy birthday to His Majesty The King.”
We don’t yet know whether the King will follow royal tradition and celebrate a separate official birthday in the Summer.
The Queen’s actual birthday was 21 April, but her official celebrations fell in June.
For 260 years, the sovereign’s official birthday has been marked with Trooping the Colour.
