Members of the public were later invited to a local church for a period of reflection and to light a candle in tribute to the boy.
An online post by St David’s Broomhouse Parish Church read: “Following the difficult circumstances earlier today, the church will be open tonight, 8pm-9pm, for quiet reflection and the opportunity to light a candle. All are welcome.”
