Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) is making a special pitch to his colleagues as he campaigns for House majority leader — McGriddles delivered to GOP offices in the Capitol.
Hern is well-known for his former McDonalds franchises, which he has since sold. His team made the deliveries on Thursday, according to one office that received the Bacon, Egg and Cheese sandwich and accompanying pamphlet.
“I promise you. No one will outwork me,” Hern, who leads the conservative Republican Study Committee, writes in his note to colleagues.
There’s just one problem. It’s not clear if the majority leader position will, in fact, be open: Scalise, who holds the position, is now the GOP’s pick for speaker but he faces a tough road to lining up the votes to formally win the position on the floor.
Two other Republicans are also seeking the No. 2 post: current House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.).
