A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following an incident involving a dog in South Wales.
Police were called to Blair Way, Aberavon at around 7am this morning after a 24-year-old was injured.
A dog, which has been confirmed as a “pitbull/staff cross”, has been sedated and removed from the scene by police.
A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed an ambulance had been in attendance.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “Officers attended Blair Way, Aberavon at around 7am this morning following a report of an incident involving a man and a dog.
“A 24-year-old man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.
“The dog has been sedated and removed from the scene by police dog units.”

A spokesperson for the Wales Air Ambulance confirmed it attended an incident in the region.
“Our Dafen-based crew were allocated at 7.30am and attended by air,” they added.
“They arrived at the scene at 7.43am. Our involvement concluded at 8.02am.”
The force confirmed its investigation into the incident is ongoing.
