A dog has been reunited with its owners eight years after it was stolen.
The cocker spaniel called Daisy was stolen from her home in Mole Valley, Surrey, in November 2016.
Daisy, who was one at the time, was taken along with three other working gun dogs from the garden kennels they were being housed in.
One of the dogs was killed after it was hit by a car as it tried to escape.
The other two have never been located despite efforts to find them.
The breakthrough for the reunion came on Tuesday 29 October, when Surrey Police were made aware someone had tried to update the details on Daisy’s microchip.
Rural crime officer PC Laura Rowley immediately contacted the microchip company to get the new owners’ details.
Two days later, officers from the Mole Valley safer neighbourhood team completed a three-hour round trip to reunite Daisy with her owners in Surrey.
PC Rowley said Daisy had been rehomed “in good faith” by the new owners who were unaware of her theft.
“We brought Daisy, who is now slightly deaf, back to the Mole Valley safer neighbourhood team office and there was not a dry eye in the house when she was reunited with her owners,” she said.
“She recognised them immediately and stuck to them like glue.”

Surrey Police are continuing to appeal for information on the whereabouts of the other missing dogs, black working cocker spaniel Tilly and patchy-white Patterdale terrier Storm.
Officers say the dogs are elderly and may have died due to their age at the time of the theft.
